First of all, this web site was not created to incite, but rather to educate. I first purchased this domain in June 2006. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it at the time, but I knew I wanted it. My best friend in the world is a Serb. He’s like no other man I’ve ever met. Supremely intelligent, with a set of morals and values that I wish more folks had in the world. He’s brutally honest, whether it hurts or not. That’s a true friend. Because of him, I became aware of the wars that had torn his country apart in the 1990s, and the role that the U.S. and other Western nations played in that bloodshed. As I read (check out my booklist too), I became angry and sad. Angry that the U.S. could be so smug, and that its citizens could so blindly buy this U.S.D.A. Prime American bullshit. And sad over what happened there. And of course, Kosovo is key in all of that and remains so today. I’ve only scratched the surface of Serbia’s and Eastern Europe’s rich and volatile history and I haven’t begun to understand it all, but I wanted to set up this site so that I could assemble all the information that I have found in some coherent form, organized, so that not only could I find it, but others who might have an interest could find it and explore it as well.
I am an American girl living in Texas. Amerikanka is Serbian for a female American. So it fits, huh?
